A New Year

As the new year gets off to a start I look at what changes in cannabis laws have taken place. Over the last couple years there have been highs and lows in our effort to free ourselves as cannabis users from maltreatment by the government. With at least half of the country (If you can believe the polls) are for outright legalization of cannabis. Many more are for legalizing for medical uses.

With this many Americans having this opinion it would seem reasonable that the government of and for the people should do our bidding, but they do not. What they are doing is cracking down and spreading more misinformation. One need only to follow the money, lots of it, to see why these tyrants do what they do.

I must admit that I wonder quite often about the validity of the voting system in this country. All the same, I exercise my right to vote. I find the more I get involved on a local level, the more leverage you have. I encourage everyone to pay attention to what is going on around you and try to be pro-active to help us all become free. This is comes down to much more than just recognition of our rights to cannabis. We are loosing more and more freedoms every year. Everyone should register to vote and everyone should vote. There is strength in numbers and we have more power than most think. Lets unleash the sleeping giant that is our large and diverse community. Let’s use our rights before they disappear like they have for countless others before us.

I am a firm believer in smaller Government and less government intrusion into our lives. That is why this year I am once again voting for Ron Paul. I am also getting involved in the caucuses for the first time in my life. I hope all of you try to become more civic minded and to watch what is happening all around you. Encourage each other to make a stand somehow. Everyone has their own unique strengths. If we band these strengths together we are only stronger.

Finally, there seem to be but three Ways for a Nation to acquire Wealth. The first is by War as the Romans did in plundering their conquered Neighbors. This is Robbery. The second by Commerce which is generally Cheating. The third by Agriculture the only honest Way; wherein Man receives a real Increase of the Seed thrown into the Ground, in a kind of continual Miracle wrought by the Hand of God in his favor, as a Reward for his innocent Life, and virtuous Industry.” Benjamin Franklin, Positions to be Examined, April 4, 1769
